In a heartwarming turn of events, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has awarded a ₦5 million scholarship to Musa Sani, a 13-year-old talented boy from Gwange, Maiduguri, whose creativity captured the hearts of many after he built a mud replica of Borno State’s first flyover.
Musa, who was then in Primary Three at a local community school, had used nothing but mud and imagination to recreate the iconic customs roundabout flyover, originally commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari in Maiduguri. His incredible display of talent quickly caught the attention of Governor Zulum.
Deeply impressed by the young boy’s innovation, the Governor invited Musa and his family, met with them personally, and approved a full scholarship to support the boy’s education from Primary 4 through to the completion of Senior Secondary School.
On November 25th, 2022, the Borno State Education Trust Fund (ETF), under the leadership of Chairperson Prof. Hauwa Biu and Executive Secretary Hon. (Dr) Maina Yaumi, officially presented a cheque of ₦5,029,000 to Golden Olive Academy, a private school in Maiduguri where Musa now attends.
💬 Speaking at the presentation, Prof. Hauwa Abdu Biu praised Governor Zulum for recognizing and nurturing local talent. She encouraged Musa to remain focused, work hard, and make Borno State proud.
This story isn’t just about a scholarship—it’s about recognizing raw talent, investing in potential, and proving that no dream is too small when the right support is given.
