Executive Secretary of Borno State Education Trust Fund Hon. Grema Terab Inspects Ongoing Projects and Conducts Familiarisation Visit to GSSSS Monguno

As part of efforts to ensure the successful resumption of academic activities for the 2026/2027 academic session, the Executive Secretary of the Borno State Education Trust Fund (BOSETF), Hon. Grema Terab, paid an inspection and familiarisation visit to Government Senior Science Secondary School (GSSSS), Monguno, on 30 June 2026.

The visit was in line with the directive of the Executive Governor of Borno State, His Excellency, Engr. Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, CON, mni, to facilitate the reopening of the school ahead of the admission of Senior Secondary School One (SS I) students in September 2026.

GSSSS Monguno had previously served as a temporary shelter for internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Northern Borno for nearly a decade due to the insurgency. Following the successful resettlement of the IDPs to their ancestral communities by the Borno State Government, the school premises were vacated, paving the way for the restoration of academic activities.

To support the government's efforts, the North East Development Commission (NEDC) undertook the renovation of the school, ensuring that the facilities are ready to provide a conducive learning environment for students.

During the visit, Hon. Grema Terab inspected the ongoing and completed renovation works, assessed the level of preparedness for the school's reopening, and reaffirmed the commitment of BOSETF to supporting initiatives aimed at improving access to quality education across Borno State.

The Executive Secretary was accompanied by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Home Affairs, Hon. Abatcha Maaji, alongside senior officials of the Fund, including the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Abba Kurama Umar, Director of Administration and Supply, Mohammad Idris and a team of the ETF Engineers.

The inspection underscores the commitment of the Borno State Government and BOSETF to rebuilding educational infrastructure, restoring learning opportunities in communities affected by conflict, and ensuring that every child has access to a safe and conducive environment for quality education.
