In a continued effort to support vulnerable communities in Borno State, the Executive Secretary of the Borno State Education Trust Fund (ETF), Hon. (Dr) Maina Yaumi, led a humanitarian outreach delivering essential food and educational materials to 300 displaced families from Abadam, Mobbar, and Kukawa Local Government Areas.
The intervention, which took place from January 19th to January 21st, 2024, was conducted at Damasak—the headquarters of Mobbar LGA and the host community for the Abadam IDP camp.
This initiative reflects ETF’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives of internally displaced persons (IDPs), particularly by addressing both their immediate nutritional needs and long-term educational development.
300 bags of 25kg rice
300 kegs of 5L cooking oil
1,500 computer textbooks
1,500 customized 60-leaf ETF exercise books
1,500 customized 40-leaf ETF exercise books
750 drawing books
600 sets of school uniforms
150 packets of dustless white chalk
The gesture was met with gratitude from beneficiaries, many of whom have been struggling with limited access to both food and formal education due to prolonged displacement.
Speaking during the event, Hon. (Dr) Maina Yaumi emphasized that education remains a powerful tool for rebuilding communities and shaping brighter futures for displaced children. He reaffirmed the ETF’s dedication to ensuring no child is left behind, regardless of their current circumstances.
This impactful outreach not only brought relief but also renewed hope among the IDP families, reinforcing the vital role of government-led initiatives in post-conflict recovery and social support across the region.
