Borno State Education Trust Fund Hands Over a Newly Constructed Primary School in BIU L.G.A.

Hope and opportunity came alive in Wurang Community of Biu LGA as the Borno State Education Trust Fund (ETF) officially handed over a newly constructed primary school consisting of three blocks of six classrooms to the Ministry of Education on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

This project is a bold step toward strengthening access to quality education at the grassroots level. At the ceremony, Hon. Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilbe, applauded the ETF for delivering a well-built, impactful facility. He also brought good news, announcing that Governor Babagana Umara Zulum will soon inaugurate 10 new schools across the state at the start of the new academic session.

📣 In his address, ETF Executive Secretary, Hon. (Dr) Maina Yaumi, outlined the Fund’s achievements and reaffirmed its commitment to educational development across all LGAs.

đź‘‘ Representing the Emir of Biu, HRH Alh. Mai Mustafa Umar Mustafa II, the Birma of Biu, Alh. Shehu Ibrahim Birma, gave a heartfelt charge to the village head and the entire Wurang community:
"This is your school—protect it, use it well, and let it serve generations."

đź’¬ Also speaking, Permanent Secretary of BOSUBEB, Dr. Hyleni Mshelia, emphasized the importance of modern education, encouraging parents to prioritize enrollment. The Education Secretary of Biu, Kachalla Aliyu Abubakar, thanked the ETF and the state government, promising to deploy qualified teachers and ensure the school is fully operational.

The event also drew 25 Local Government Education Secretaries from across the state, highlighting the significance of this milestone.

🔑 A symbolic handover took place with the keys passed from ETF to the Hon. Commissioner of Education, then to the Permanent Secretary of BOSUBEB, and finally to the Education Secretary and Head Teacher—marking a new chapter for Wurang's children.

This school is more than just a building—it’s a beacon of hope, learning, and progress for the entire community.
